The Racine Unified School District Board of Education on July 21 approved a slate of independent hearing officers to serve for student expulsion proceedings and voted to send a referral on board compensation to the governance committee for further review.
Board minutes record that administration proposed four hearing officers for the 2025–26 school year. The board approved a resolution authorizing appointments of Gail Titus, Michael Ruppnow, Richard Terman and Sarah Hanneman as independent hearing officers. A board member noted hearing officers are used so the full board does not need to convene for each expulsion proceeding.
Separately, the board voted to refer "Referral 01‑2025" (pertaining to board compensation) to the governance committee for review and consideration; the motion passed 7–0.
