Council approves purchase resolution for fire truck; bond proceeds expected in August

The council passed Resolution 022-25 authorizing the expenditure of funds above $50,000 to purchase a fire truck for the Napoleon Fire Department and awarding the purchase to the vendor listed on the agenda. City staff said this was the third and final reading required to execute the purchase contract. A staff presenter said the city expects bond proceeds in August to fund the purchase once all required signatures are in place. "We should receive the funds from the bond at August as long as we get all of our signatures and we're crossing our t's and dotting our i's," the presenter said, adding that the city manager and other signatories would then sign the contracts and the city would have 30 days to pay the vendor. Several council members and the fire chief thanked staff and the safety committee for their work on the truck procurement. "First off, I wanna thank Kevin for all his hard work. I wanna thank the fire department for all their hard work on putting this truck together," the fire chief said. The resolution passed on third reading by roll call; no further action was taken this evening beyond closing the item. Staff will proceed to execute the contract after the bond funds are available and necessary signatures are obtained.
