District technology staff said the purchases follow an annual rotation that replaces roughly 25% of classroom and student technology each year. "We are on a rotation for roughly 25% of classroom and student technology to be replaced every single year," the staff presentation said.
Board members discussed deployment models and device damage. Staff confirmed that K–8 students use classroom sets (carts) while high school students have one‑to‑one devices that travel home. Staff said most replacement devices purchased are Chromebooks, with 20–30 Windows devices for specific subjects.
Board members raised device‑damage incidents and accountability. Staff said most damage is from water and drops but also noted isolated vandalism tied to a social‑media challenge where students short‑circuited ports; staff said fewer than 10 devices were involved and families were charged for damage in those cases.
Both motions passed unanimously (7–0).
