Council approves stop lettering additions at multiple downtown intersections

The LaSalle City Council approved an item to add stop lettering for north- and southbound traffic at multiple intersections in the downtown core. The intersections listed include: Second and Right, Second and Gooding, Second and Marquette, and for southbound traffic at First and Right, First and Gooding, and First and Marquette.

A council member moved to approve the stop lettering changes; initial procedural confusion arose when an earlier motion lacked a second, but a clarified motion listing the exact intersections was offered and seconded. The city attorney advised that items must be on the agenda; city staff confirmed the correct streets were placed on the agenda before the council took a roll-call vote. The roll call recorded affirmative votes for aldermen including Dimas, Thompson, Patak, Reynolds, LaViere, Herndon and Crane.

The authorization directs public-works staff to add pavement stop lettering at the named intersections. The council did not change signalization or create new stop signs; the action concerned adding pavement markings to reinforce existing stop controls where applicable.
