Personnel Committee forwards Patrick Delaney to full council with favorable recommendation for Lawrence fire chief

The Lawrence City Personnel Committee voted July 21 to forward a favorable recommendation to the full City Council for the appointment of Acting Fire Chief Patrick Delaney, sending the nominee and a proposed three-year employment agreement for final confirmation.

The committee, chaired by Councilor Stephanie Fonte, questioned Delaney at length about his qualifications, hiring process details and terms in a draft employment contract, including a three-year term, annual performance reviews and a clause addressing promotion eligibility under civil service rules. After discussion, Councilor Wendy Luzon moved to send a favorable recommendation; Councilor Federlina Santiago seconded the motion, and the committee took voice approval (ayes) to forward the item to the full council.
