During the meeting the Wasilla City Council approved several budget and fiscal items included on the consent agenda and new business.

Ordinance Serial Number 2518 amended the FY2025 General Fund by appropriating $19,600 from fund balance to cover personnel expenses in the clerks and counsel budgets related to special meetings; the council adopted the item after public hearing and without recorded objection.

The council also adopted Ordinance Serial Number 2519, appropriating $150,000 from the General Fund fund balance to cover shortfalls in FY2025 legal services covering records management, human resources, planning, police administration and public works administration. The council held a public hearing with no speakers and adopted the ordinance.

In new business the council adopted Resolution Serial Number 2519 to implement salary ranges and pay structure for several represented and non-represented employee groups; the resolution aligns with existing collective bargaining agreements and the FY2026 budget assumptions. The council also approved a renewal contract to Confluence Strategies for municipal lobbyist services in the amount of $75,000 (AM 2529), as noted on the consent agenda.

Council members said rising meeting demands and special sessions were among the reasons to adjust the clerks-and-counsel budget line. Staff will implement the appropriations and report back through standard budget processes.
