The Board of Ethics voted July 17 to approve and adopt its annual report summarizing the board's work and recommendations.
Paul, a board member who drafted the report, told the board the document accurately summarized the past year and contained recommendations for improving the municipal ethics process. A board member noted a misspelling on the report's cover letter; the board adopted the report with that minor correction noted for revision.
A staff member advised the board that the report will be transmitted to the assembly rules committee and that the board's representative is commonly asked to be present to answer questions when the report is considered. "If any board member wants to attend too and, you know, represent the board, you're certainly welcome to," the staff member said. The board approved the report and the practice of having a board representative available when the report is considered by the rules committee.
No budgetary or enforcement actions were taken as part of the adoption; the action was limited to approving and transmitting the annual report.
