Council approves contract for old high service pump upgrades with OPWC grant support

The New Carlisle City Council on July 7 approved Ordinance 2025-28 to authorize contracting for equipment upgrades to the city’s Old High Service Pump Building and to proceed with the project under an Ohio Public Works Commission (OPWC) grant. Service Director Mr. Kikko summarized the contract award: Lane Christians and Company was the successful bidder at $204,150. Because of potential change orders or unforeseen circumstances, the project authorization includes a not-to-exceed total of $230,000. Mr. Kikko told the council OPWC will fund up to 59% of project costs; he stated the grant cannot exceed $148,975. The ordinance was moved and seconded and passed by voice vote with no recorded opposition. Council members present voting “yes” included Vice Mayor Eggleston, Mayor Cook, Councilwoman Grove, Councilman Bond, Councilman Shami, Councilwoman Wright and Councilman Lindsay. City staff said the measure completes the grant and contracting step needed to put the pump building work into procurement and construction phases. No further amendments or alternatives were adopted during the meeting.
