Police chief: Festa Italiana police staffing approved; school resource officer intergovernmental agreement in review

Police Chief Ed Clark asked the council on July 21 to approve a Special Events Police Services Agreement with the Italian Cultural Society for Festa Italiana, scheduled Aug. 8–10, and the council approved the agreement by roll call. One council member abstained to avoid an appearance of conflict, saying she is a member of the club.
Clark also reported the police department is working through the intergovernmental agreement (IGA) with the school districts for the School Resource Officer program. He said Officer Outlaw has completed required state and national certifications and that staff expect to present the IGA to council for formal approval once the document review is finished.
Clark said fall community events are being planned and that National Night Out is scheduled for Sept. 4 from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m.; he said vendors and logistics are being secured and volunteers will be requested from council.
