Clerk’s office: board authorizes RFP for 2026 audit services and updates fireworks display permit language

At the July 21 meeting the Village Board authorized staff to issue a request for proposals (RFP) for 2026 audit services and adopted an ordinance amending Chapter 283 (fireworks display permits) of the municipal code. On the audit RFP, staff said CliftonLarsonAllen has served as the village auditor since February 2019 and the board agreed to solicit proposals to ensure competitive pricing and service. Trustees moved, seconded and approved going to RFP for 2026 audit services. On fireworks, the board adopted an amendment to the village code clarifying that “individuals or groups of individuals” may apply for a display permit (the change was intended to allow private individuals, not simply businesses, to apply). The clerk emphasized that permit issuance does not allow private individuals to simply set off consumer fireworks without a display permit; the ordinance requires insurance and compliance with permit standards. The board discussed but did not finalize a fee structure for individual permits and said the fee could be adopted in a subsequent action once staff compiles comparative fee data.
