The City Council voted to approve two property-related measures and then entered an executive session to discuss pricing for public property.
On a motion and second, the council approved Resolution R-25-022, authorizing the sale of real estate (second reading) and Resolution R-25-023 authorizing the city manager to enter a 45-day lease agreement for occupancy of Tech Park Lots 5121315 and Outlet 7. Staff described the lease as a temporary legal mechanism to allow the developer to start construction before the closing process completes because "construction time is of the essence." "This just gives us a little bit more of a legal standing to allow them to start that process," staff said.
The council approved both measures by roll call. For R-25-022 the clerk recorded unanimous approval. For R-25-023 the clerk again recorded unanimous votes: "Council member Newman: Aye; Gomez: Aye; McCall: Aye; Zaleski: Aye; Mayor Baker: Aye."
After those approvals, the council moved to convene an executive session "under Veil statutes to discuss setting of a price for sale or lease of property owned by the public body." The motion to move into executive session passed on roll call. The council announced its next regular meeting date will be Monday, 08/04/2025 at 6 p.m. at City Hall.
Why it matters: the lease provides the developer temporary occupancy to begin work pending final closing; the executive session indicates the council will discuss confidential pricing strategy for sale or lease.
What happened next: council approved the lease and the sale authorization, and then recessed into executive session for property-pricing discussions. No public deliberations about price occurred in open session.
