Milton City Council approved an alcohol beverage license Monday for I Love New York Pizza of Milton Inc., which will operate El Castillo Mexican Restaurant at 980 Birmingham Road, Suite 200 A.
Deputy City Manager Bernadette Harvill told council the applicant seeks a consumption-on-premises license for wine, malt beverages and distilled spirits, including Sunday sales. Harvill said the application met the city's requirements for a full-service restaurant: the floor plan dedicates roughly 45% to seating and the operator projects at least 50% of gross annual food and beverage sales will come from prepared food.
The public hearing was advertised in the Milton Herald on July 10 and July 17 in compliance with city code; no public comments were offered at the meeting. Councilor Carol Cookerly moved approval of agenda item 25-195; Councilor Jan Jacobus seconded. The motion passed unanimously.
Staff will proceed with licensing and any administrative steps required for the restaurant to begin on-premises alcohol service in accordance with city regulations.
