Council awards up to $74,000 contract for sanitary sewer manhole rehabilitation

The City Council on July 21 unanimously approved an award to Lewis Concrete Restoration for rehabilitation and coating of sanitary sewer manholes, for an amount not to exceed $74,000. Staff described the work as a routine utility‑maintenance activity covering multiple neighborhoods, including Regina, Radisson, Dendron, Tomahawk and others. The scope and price vary by manhole size and the required mil thickness for the coating; staff estimated the likely cost was about $67,000–$68,000 but requested authority up to $74,000 to cover any calculation variance. The work will be procured through a cooperative purchasing contract. A councilmember noted similar work had been done previously and staff said the city attempts to perform the work annually in different areas. The motion passed on a 5–0 roll call. The award is within the utility maintenance budget and staff said they have budgeted $100,000 for the work in the utility account. Finance and utilities staff will proceed with contract execution and scheduling.
