Council approves panels for Vision Whitefish 2045 land-use consultant selection

The council reviewed plans for selecting a professional planning consultant to assist with the land-use element of the Vision Whitefish 2045 comprehensive-plan update and approved formation of ratings and selection panels.
Planning staff said proposals are due July 25 and estimated consultant costs around $200,000; the city earlier received a $391,000 pro-housing HUD grant that will fund portions of the project, including the community wildfire protection plan. Staff recommended that the ratings panel be city staff to evaluate proposals and that the selection panel include two staff members and one elected official.
Councilor Ben volunteered as the council representative but said scheduling might require a secondary council rep; the council appointed Frank Sweeney as the primary and Ben Davis as the secondary council representative for the selection panel. The motion approving both the ratings panel and the selection committee passed unanimously.
