The Richmond City Council approved two special-event requests at its July 21 meeting.
Neighbors on Circle Lane requested permission to close Circle Lane for a neighborhood block party on Saturday, Aug. 16, from noon to 3 p.m., with Sunday, Aug. 17 reserved as an inclement weather date. Council approved the closure of Circle Lane from 69874 Circle Lane to the west entrance from Ridge Street.
Separately, Velour Beauty Lounge requested permission to host a mobile food vendor (the Rolling Cactus) at a one-year anniversary customer-appreciation event at 67431 Main Street on Friday, Aug. 15 from 5 to 8 p.m. Owner Hannah Philhard told council the event is planned as a customers’ appreciation gathering and that the vendor is local; the council approved the request.
Both motions passed by voice vote with no public opposition recorded at the meeting.
Why it matters: The approvals clear the way for neighborhood and small-business events that rely on street closures and temporary vendor permits and allow the organizers to finalize logistics and notify affected residents and businesses.
Next steps: Event organizers and the city will coordinate on closures, signage, and any required public-notice steps ahead of the events.
