Council adopts finance committee recommendations including two operator-license denials and several grant approvals

A second two-year operator's license application for Sea Orth (document 496) was returned recommending denial under the same statute and the council carried that recommendation unanimously. A two-year operator's license application for K. Franjos (document 518) was recommended for approval and carried unanimously.
The council approved a temporary extension of premises for Chewy's LLC to sell liquor and/or beer on a closed section of Buffalo Street on Aug. 2, 2025, from noon to 10 p.m.; the committee recommended approval and the council carried the motion unanimously.
Finance committee items also included authorization to pursue a harbor assistance program grant for a crane platform extension and adoption of a Department of Natural Resources principal-forgiven financial assistance agreement; both resolutions were adopted unanimously. The council also approved out-of-state travel for Community Development Director Adam Tagan to attend the EPA National Brownfields Conference in Chicago, Aug. 5–8, 2025.
