Board files liens on unkept properties, sets wastewater plant bid opening and hears staff updates

During the meeting the Board of Public Works and Safety approved filing liens on properties judged unkept, a routine enforcement action the board moved and approved unanimously.
City staff announced a bid opening for the wastewater treatment plant expansion is scheduled for Tuesday, May 29, at 2 p.m. in the board chamber; staff urged interest in receiving competitive bids. Planning director Joanna Tennell reported the city is moving forward with early steps of its comprehensive plan: a public survey will be posted on the city website and paper copies will be available at the planning office, and public workshops are being planned with an anticipated session in mid-August.
Mayor Barnett and staff noted a planned presentation about Flock Safety cameras will be presented at the City Council meeting rather than the board meeting so residents may attend that session. Police staff reported two new officers completed bike-school training, raising the department's bike-patrol complement to 12 officers; the officers will help spread weekend-event workload and reduce repeated overtime for a smaller group of officers.
