The Village of Germantown on July 21 adopted a resolution to update the village sanitary sewer service area and approved companion amendments to the village 2050 comprehensive plan to reflect the revised boundaries. The amendments add seven areas totaling about 1,369 acres and remove two areas totaling about 197 acres, for a net increase of roughly 1,172 acres in the sanitary sewer service area. Village and regional staff said the change is intended to identify where public sewer could be extended over the next five to 15 years and to keep Germantown's plans consistent with regional and Metropolitan Mayors Sewer District (MMSD) facility planning. Sewer-area planning is required under the federal Clean Water Act and related Wisconsin administrative rules; the Village's draft community assistance planning report (Community Assistance Planning Report No. 70, 2nd ed., dated June 25, 2025) and the resolution will be forwarded to the Southeastern Wisconsin Regional Planning Commission (SEWRPC or "the commission") for its Planning and Research Committee and then to…
