The Scottsburg Board of Public Works and Safety approved an annual contract with Ryan Fire Protection Inc. on July 9, 2025, to service the city's fire systems and related equipment. Bobby Wilson, the city's building inspector, told the board the current service provider declined to respond to questions about the remodeled sprinkler and fire systems at the Mid America Science Park. Wilson said Ryan Fire Protection had been vetted and could provide the needed services, including sprinkler, fire-alarm and backflow-preventer inspections and maintenance. Mayor Raynett asked whether the contract covered citywide items such as fire extinguishers and backflow preventers; Wilson confirmed Ryan Fire Protection would streamline those services under the new contract. A motion to approve the contract was moved and seconded and carried on a voice vote. The board instructed staff to transition inspections and maintenance to Ryan Fire Protection; the meeting record notes the contract will replace prior annual service arrangements.
