On second and final reading Fishers City Council approved an update to the property-maintenance code that adds language requiring that removed signs be repaired and repainted and clarifies enforcement authority.
Lindsay Bennett, Corporation Counsel, told the council the only substantive change since first reading was additional language about sign repair and repainting and clarification of who can enforce the ordinance; otherwise the ordinance remains the same as presented at first reading. No public hearing was required and the council voted by roll call to adopt the update.
Council members recorded aye votes and the update carried. Staff said the new language is intended to streamline enforcement and reduce ambiguity about responsibilities when signs are removed, repaired or replaced.
