At the July board meeting, district staff provided community announcements including open online enrollment for new families, vaccine reminders for certain grades and a slate of free summer events.
Staff said enrollment is now open online for families who have moved into the district and provided a contact phone number for student services. The district reiterated immunization requirements: eighth-graders need Tdap and meningococcal vaccines unless exempted; seniors need the meningococcal vaccine unless exempted. Staff also outlined summer activities publicized by the district, including a babysitter training for ages 12 and up, a cardboard boat race, library events and youth bowling programs; the district advised parents to register through listed contacts.
Why it matters: enrollment and immunization information affect students’ eligibility and readiness for the fall term; community events are intended to engage youth and families ahead of the Aug. 18 school start date.
Details: staff noted middle- and high-school orientation dates and meet-the-teacher nights and reiterated the district’s Aug. 18 first day of school date.
