According to the presentation, 392 high school students completed the first summer session and 487 completed the second. An additional 137 high school students took virtual courses through the district’s Launch program to obtain credit. In kindergarten through eighth grade, 1,172 students completed summer classes focused on remediation and enrichment; elementary sites also offered multi-age STEM classrooms for grades 3–5.
Why it matters: summer programming can affect students’ readiness and credit recovery ahead of the next academic year. The district said a mix of core classes, credit recovery, physical education and electives were offered and that staff are available to answer follow-up questions.
Next steps: staff offered to take questions from the board and to continue supporting summer-to-school transitions ahead of the Aug. 18 first day of school previously announced by district staff.
