Interim County Administrator Gary Meager told the county commission that staff have prepared a petition to create Sewer District No. 4 and that roughly 70% of affected property owners have signed. Meager said staff would present the petition packet on Aug. 4 so the commission can set a hearing date and begin required notifications.
Meager said the process has taken longer than expected because of the volume of work required, but that the petition has reached the threshold to proceed. He asked the board to expect the materials on Aug. 4 and to be prepared to set a hearing date at that time so notices can be mailed.
The commission discussed scheduling and confirmed special-session and hearing timelines for August and September items elsewhere on the agenda. Meager also noted coordination with legal and administrative staff on the district formation steps.
No formal action on the sewer district formation was taken at the July meeting; staff will return on Aug. 4 with the petition packet and a proposed hearing date.
