He said columns will be steel with prefabricated exterior sleeves and the design emphasizes low maintenance. The designer estimated construction bids in the $150,000–$175,000 range for the specified structural-steel facility and noted an optional decorative cupola with a manufacturer cost estimate of $17,000–$18,000 as an alternate.
The court’s motion, made by Commissioner Quiley and seconded by Commissioner Craig, authorized putting the project out to bid with written bids due to the auditor’s office on Aug. 22, 2025, at 12 p.m.; the court planned to open bids and consider results at the Aug. 25, 2025 meeting. The motion passed 5-0.
Why it matters: The project replaces an older, higher gazebo and is intended to be accessible, durable and lower maintenance. County staff said specifications and full structural engineering details would be provided in the solicitation so contractors can price to the complete scope.
Contract and budget notes: The designer recommended a 4–5 week solicitation period and provided a manufacturer price for the optional cupola; the court did not approve the alternate cupola during the meeting. The court voted to receive bids and return to award or further direct staff after receiving competitive proposals.
