District reports summer academy enrollment and free summer meal sites through July and August
Summary
Superintendent liaison reported approximately 150 students enrolled in the district summer academy (June 30–July 25) focused on reading fluency; the district’s food services are providing free meals to children at specified sites through July 25 and through August 22 at other locations.
During the July 21 board meeting, the district’s federal programs liaison reported on the summer academy and the district’s summer meal service. The summer academy began June 30 and will conclude July 25; approximately 150 students were participating with an instructional focus on fundamental skills to support reading fluency and accuracy. The liaison said a more detailed report would follow after the program concluded.
The district’s food services department is offering free meals this summer to all children ages 0–18 at specified locations and times. Blair Mill Elementary will serve breakfast 8:30–9:30 a.m. and lunch 11 a.m.–12:30 p.m. through Friday, July 25. Crooked Village Elementary will serve breakfast 8–9:30 a.m. and lunch 11 a.m.–1:30 p.m. through Aug. 22. The liaison noted these service dates and times during the federal programs report.
The board did not take action on these items; the information was provided as part of liaison reports and informational updates to the board.
