Alderman Bateman told the council he will bring forward next week a proposed modification to the street-closure plan for the downtown portion of the Balloons Over 66 festival to create extra space for vendors and logistical needs.
Bateman said the festival has grown and organizers and the art fair have asked for more street space so registrations need not be closed. He said the festival committee and other stakeholder committees meet monthly and that the city’s festival planning has included police and fire representation to address traffic, electrical and water needs.
The announcement was informational; no formal action or vote occurred at the meeting. Bateman said he will present a map and additional details at the next council meeting approximately 30 days before the event.
