Lafayette City officials voted to award a $214,700 contract to Quality Roofing Incorporated for roof repairs at the city's Canal Road water facility and the Columbian Park booster pump station, city staff said at the meeting.
Steve Moore, superintendent of Lafayette Water Works, told the council, "They had a base bid in the amount of $214,700 ... I recommend this be awarded to Quality Roofing Incorporated." He said the low bidder provided licensing, insurance and bonding, manufacturer's product data and a system warranty, and that staff called the low bidder to confirm capacity and willingness to honor the bid.
The recommendation followed a formal bid process that attracted three bidders. "This particular one was the lowest bid," Moore said when asked about the number of bidders. The council approved the recommendation and later approved the contract and a notice to proceed dated July 8 by voice vote; no roll-call tally was recorded in the meeting transcript.
Moore answered a question about timing, saying, "They feel that they'll be done within 60 days," but he also noted staff did not receive a single fixed calendar completion date from the contractor. The contract award includes the standard submittals and warranty documentation required in the bid package.
The award moves the roofing work into the contract phase; staff will issue the notice to proceed and follow up on contractor scheduling and submittals. The council did not record any separate conditions or amendments when it approved the contract.
