Lafayette Water Works approves small net increase for Glickwell Field chemical containment work

Steve Moore, superintendent of Lafayette Water Works, told the council the materials and labor cost for the change order totalled $33,570.75. After applying a deduct amount of $27,585.41 for funds not used from a prior change order, the net increase to the Reynolds Construction contract is $5,985.34.
Moore said the change in scope came after a sanitary survey by IDEM (the Indiana Department of Environmental Management) recommended secondary containment for chemical feed vats. He said the project team altered the originally planned scope because dual-wall tanks are not subject to the same secondary-containment requirement; the dual-wall option was available at a reasonable price.
Councilmembers moved and seconded approval of change order number 5, and the motion carried by voice vote.
Moore said the project has had multiple change orders because some of the underground infrastructure and building elements were older than anticipated; he did not say whether further change orders are expected.
