The board reviewed updates and set status hearing dates for multiple properties under rehabilitation or demolition orders on April 24.
Jose Jesus Ramirez appeared and reported ongoing work at 1047 Moss; staff said exterior work is complete and interior finishing remains. Ramirez estimated completion in about three months; the board set a status date of July 31, 2025.
Staff and contractors reported progress on multiple nearby addresses under rehab agreements (including 1101 Roosevelt, 1152 Roosevelt, 6126 Harrison, 251 Detroit and others). Several properties passed rough inspections for framing, plumbing, electrical and HVAC; the board generally set 90-day status dates for those files, largely on July 31, 2025, to allow contractors to complete final inspections and permits.
For one property that staff said had appliances and fixtures removed without licensed contractors, staff requested referral to the law department to determine next steps; the board set a status date of May 22, 2025 to check on compliance and occupancy status. In that case staff said it was unclear whether the water service had been disconnected and that vacant commercial spaces may still be used improperly for residential occupancy.
Where rehab agreements had expired or needed amendment, staff instructed that documentation be updated and that status or expiration dates be amended to reflect current work schedules. The board repeatedly emphasized scheduling follow-up inspections and the need for final permits before occupancy.
