Fort Bend County Court at Law No. 1 on Aug. 4, 2025 declared the heirs of James Rodney Pegues and appointed his daughter, Kamethra Lashay Tucker, as independent administrator of his estate.
Why it matters: The appointment allows Tucker to collect assets — including a personal-injury recovery related to a proton-pump inhibitor claim — and to manage distributions to the decedent’s children.
Witness testimony from Tanya Griffin, Aletha Stovall and others established Pegues had three children — Kamethra Lashay Tucker, Brent Anthony Tucker and Jamie Rochelle Jackson — and the witnesses said the decedent had no will, did not adopt other children and did not participate in foster care. Kamethra Tucker told the court a diligent search found no will and requested to serve without bond and to waive appraisers because the estate is not taxable.
The court found administration necessary and appointed Tucker as independent administrator, waived appraisers and thanked attorneys and witnesses. The judge discharged Carl Moore as attorney ad litem and awarded him a fee of $1,088. The court again cautioned parties that electronic orders could be delayed by system issues.
