DC Everest board approves academic standards, handbooks and annual policy items for 2025-26

The DC Everest School Board approved a package of annual academic and policy items for the 2025-26 school year, including academic standards, student handbooks, athletic handbooks with name-and-image-and-likeness (NIL) language, the staff handbook, and the designation of expulsion hearing officers.
Board members voted by voice on each item. The academic standards were approved with a change to include Wisconsin standards for physical education on the materials the district posts online. "So when this goes on to our website, which it does, we will have an eighth component, which is the Wisconsin standards for physical education," a staff presenter said.
Athletics: the junior- and senior-high athletic handbooks were updated to include guidance and links about NIL (name, image and likeness) consistent with state language; a staff member thanked Mike for updating the handbook materials. Student and staff handbooks were approved by voice vote as routine annual updates.
Expulsion hearing officers and policy reviews: the board approved Steven Pufall and Renee Sabe as expulsion hearing officers and readopted policy 56.10.01 as part of that action. The reading curriculum report required by policy 21.31.01 was presented as information only; staff summarized goals and adjustments made in early literacy and kindergarten reading readiness.
Title I and annual policy: the board completed its annual review and approval of policy 22.61.01 as required for Title I compliance.
