Board members said the request originated with cricket players and was relayed to the board by a member who was absent at the meeting.
Parks staff reported the field’s northeast edge abuts open farm ground and that roughly 292 feet of netting or fencing could be needed; staff asked whether the board wanted to add the work to the capital program. Board members raised questions about fence height (staff estimated 10–25 feet), material (chain link vs. removable mesh netting), longevity if the adjacent property is redeveloped, and who would pay for installation.
Members suggested staff ask Donovan (the agenda sponsor) to contact the cricket users to determine organization structure, frequency of use, exact height and preferred materials. Board members proposed options including fundraising by the cricket group, a partial in‑kind contribution, or placing the item in the capital improvement plan if village funding were appropriate. The board did not approve funds at the meeting and directed staff to gather more information and invite a cricket representative to a future meeting.
