Borough engineer: manhole trackers installed; I&I data expected after 60 days of rain events

Engineers reported that infiltration-and-inflow (I&I) trackers were installed in manholes across the borough and that the devices will collect flow data for about 60 days to capture rainfall events; staff said results will inform sewer rehabilitation planning.
At the July 17 meeting Yeaton Borough’s engineer told council that all trackers for the infiltration-and-inflow (I&I) study have been installed in manholes throughout the borough.
“We will have our data hopefully within — they will stay in the system for 60 days. Hopefully, we get enough rain events,” the engineer said. The devices will collect flow during rainfall events to identify sources of inflow and infiltration into the sanitary system; the engineer said the borough has already experienced numerous rain events this season and expects to begin analysis after the data collection period.
The engineer said the I&I data will be used to inform later sewer-rehabilitation planning and that the Bullock Avenue rehabilitation is separately on a recommended county CDBG award list. Council asked for updates at future meetings once data collection and analysis are complete.
