The Board of School Directors voted unanimously July 21 to appoint Dr. Peter J. Aiken as superintendent for the term July 1, 2026, through June 30, 2031, and approved the related employment contract.
The appointment was recommended by the administration and carried after a roll-call vote. Mister Spataro called the roll before the vote; Directors Hartman, McMillan, Oliver, Rick, Stewart, Strickler, Thurman, Walker and Halston each voted “yes.”
Board members did not elaborate on contract terms during the public meeting. Earlier in the agenda the board president noted the board had held an executive session the prior Thursday “to discuss the superintendent contract.” The motion to appoint was made and seconded and then decided by roll call as recorded.
Dr. Aiken spoke briefly earlier in the meeting during correspondence and responded to questions about outreach (two items had been received and responded to), but the board did not discuss further details of the contract at the public session.
The board will administer and file the approved employment contract in district records as required by policy and applicable public‑meeting rules.
Less critical details: the board approved the motion by roll call; no member opposed. The contract term and the effective dates were stated on the record.
