Smyrna holds second public hearing on 2025 millage rate; no public comment

The Presiding official opened a special-called meeting this morning for a second public hearing on the proposed 2025 millage rate and said no vote would be taken at this session.
“This is the second public hearing for the 2025 millage rate. We’ll have the last one and vote this evening. There’s no vote today,” the Presiding official said.
The hearing included brief background from Miss Robinson, a staff member, who said the city’s 2026 budget had been approved and that the millage rate has not been raised in 18 years. “My ’26 budget was approved,” Miss Robinson said. She told council members the millage rate would be kept at its current level.
Councilman Welch led a brief prayer at the start of the meeting. The Presiding official opened the public comment period, invited anyone who wished to speak and, when no members of the public came forward, closed the hearing and adjourned the meeting at 8:32 a.m. “If there’s anybody who wants to speak for or against, please come forward. Being none, we’ll close the public hearing,” the Presiding official said.
No motions or votes were taken at the session. The Presiding official said the council would hold a final public hearing and vote later the same day.
