The revisions state the board will be responsible for maintenance of any accepted gift unless the donor stipulates otherwise; committee members agreed donors could specify maintenance responsibilities when donating playground equipment or memorial plaques.
The delegation-of-responsibility section was expanded to require the superintendent or a designee to counsel prospective donors about appropriateness and to prepare ways to recognize or memorialize gifts; members gave examples such as plaques and dedications. Committee members asked staff to ensure internal inventory and property-record practices noted in the draft are consistent with existing district records.
Action taken: the committee accepted the draft Policy 702 and directed it to the full board for first reading.
Next steps: the committee did not change the $5,000 acceptance threshold in the draft under review and asked staff to carry the proposed language forward unchanged for first reading, noting that donor stipulations about maintenance would be honored where specified.
