City officials announced several upcoming parks and community events during the July 21 Oviedo City Council meeting. Riverside Park will have a ribbon-cutting ceremony from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on July 31 to mark its reopening and the kickoff of expanded senior programming, city staff said.
As part of a previously approved grant for Round Lake Park's African American historical project, the city will host artist meetings at Riverside on Aug. 2 from 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. to gather public input on proposed artworks and historical content, staff said. City staff invited residents with local history to attend and contribute to the planning process.
Mayor Sladek also announced a Central Florida-wide cleanup day at Round Lake Park beginning at 8:30 a.m. Saturday, organized with partners including the Orlando Realtor Foundation and volunteer groups; volunteers should bring footwear that can get wet. Council members encouraged public participation in the cleanup and the Round Lake Park engagement sessions.
