The Graham County Board of Supervisors on July 21 approved two proclamations: one recognizing August as Child Support Awareness Month (per a gubernatorial proclamation requested by the Arizona Department of Economic Security, Division of Child Support Services) and another declaring the Week of the Young Child 2025.
County Manager Welker presented the Child Support Awareness proclamation, stating it reflected the Department of Economic Security’s commitment to serve families and champion child economic opportunity. Supervisors connected the proclamations to local programs including Women, Infants and Children (WIC), the county health department, and a local mental-health coalition, and praised collaborations with schools and law enforcement to support children.
Supervisor Howard moved to approve the Week of the Young Child proclamation; the motion was seconded and approved by voice vote. The board encouraged continued interagency work on child services and education-related supports.
