CARMEL, Ind. — In mayoral remarks at the July 21 meeting Mayor Finkham said Carmel will host one stop of the World Aquatics series in October, bringing about 500 swimmers and accompanying delegations that will require thousands of hotel room nights.
The mayor said the event will be broadcast on Peacock and will showcase the new 50‑meter competition pool at Carmel High School. She said the timing—October and overlapping fall break—will create a large hospitality demand and that organizers and the city plan to provide downtown evening programming, including a late night on Main in partnership with Carmel Porch Fest.
Councilors welcomed the event as an economic and promotional opportunity and reminded residents and local businesses to anticipate increased visitation during the event weekend.
