Fairboard staff and commissioners reviewed fair planning, facility needs and approved a purchase to improve spectator seating.
Fair staff reported entertainment lineups and logistics, including scheduled performers and a pig-racing vendor, and confirmed the county’s gospel sing and family events. The board asked staff to pursue a donor or community recipient for Calcutta proceeds and finalized event logistics such as mini-golf and laser-tag vendors.
On facilities, staff reported stains and possible roof leakage in the event center and recommended inspecting the north-side door and ceiling tiles; staff said more detailed evaluation may identify whether roof or interior plumbing causes are responsible. Commissioners approved a $15,015 purchase of a 21-foot mobile aluminum bleacher with back and center handrail for improved spectator safety and accessibility; staff said they will store the unit under the event center awning and move it as needed.
Staff also discussed porta-potty versus opening bathrooms early for the fair and recommended opening the county restroom (staff to coordinate cleaning/stocking) because the porta-potty recurring cost was higher during the season.
Ending: Staff will order the bleacher, inspect the event-center ceiling and coordinate bathroom availability and table replacements ahead of the fair.
