Senior services staff reported hail damage to county transportation vehicles and discussed replacement and repair options while the commission approved a vendor for congregate meals.
Staff said three senior transportation vehicles and a van donated two years earlier had been driven away for use and would be available for inspection; the county reported only cosmetic dings to most vehicles but broken windshields and rear windows on several units. Staff said the deductible is $1,000 per vehicle; for some older fleet vehicles (for example a high-mileage Sienna van), repair was deemed economically unlikely.
On meals and contracts, the commissioners opened and accepted a bid for congregate meals from Lily Treadway at $15 per plate for fiscal year 25–26 after a motion and second on the record; the contract was signed following the vote. Staff also discussed transit grant opportunities for vehicle replacement, noted federal procurement and ADA funding rules for replacement vans and that the county typically pays the vendor and then receives reimbursement under its transit grants.
Ending: Staff will proceed with the congregate meals contract, present vehicles for the insurance adjuster’s inspection and continue to pursue grant funding or bid processes for replacing transit vehicles if needed.
