The Carter County commissioners voted to accept the low bid for structural rehabilitation of Cabin 6 at Camp Needmore and directed county staff to complete a formal contract.
Commissioners voted to award the work to Robert Wood of Woody’s Construction, LLC, for $24,439.50. County staff and bidders had toured the cabin and site; the commissioners and staff discussed access, seasonal constraints and required insurance and workers’ compensation documentation that the contractor had already supplied, according to the meeting discussion.
Staff said contract language will include special provisions that reflect the contractor’s work arrangements and that county staff will monitor the project and inspect progress frequently. Commissioners discussed project timing and how much of the work can be completed before winter; staff said the contractor expects to have the project complete in time for the next season and that adjustments to start dates would be reflected in the contract.
Ending: County staff will prepare the written contract for signature and require proof of insurance and workers’ compensation before the contractor begins work on site.
