Marshall County commissioners approved, in concept, a memorandum of understanding with Culver Military Academy to contribute $50,000 toward resurfacing a section of Academy Drive, subject to attorney approval and the president’s signature.
Highway staff and commissioners said the stretch of Academy Drive needs resurfacing and that Culver Military Academy has offered to pay the balance of the project cost. Commissioners voted to approve the MOU concept and authorized the county’s attorney to review the final document; the motion specified that the county’s contribution would be $50,000 and that the president be authorized to sign once the attorney completes review.
Commissioners noted the project is less than a half-mile of roadway and that the collaborative effort will expedite repairs that staff drive past daily. The vote was recorded by voice and the motion carried.
The final MOU and contract will be brought back to the commissioners for formal ratification and signature after attorney review, and staff will track the project schedule and funding disbursements.
