Committee members reported progress on a planned community health fair and discussed early steps toward a local crisis‑intervention and postvention effort at the Sweet Home Health Committee meeting.

Committee staff reported that 22 applications for the health fair have been returned and 23 tables reserved; new banners purchased will be used for outreach. Members said space is tentatively set aside at the senior center for an October event and asked that deeper planning and guest‑speaker scheduling be added to the next meeting agenda.

Members also raised crisis intervention and postvention as a community health need after recent local incidents. One committee member described prior work on a Lebanon suicide prevention task force and suggested the committee explore models that bring community partners — such as schools, Samaritan Health Services, and local nonprofits — into coordinated response and prevention work. Participants discussed possible components including QPR training, school coordination during summer months when counselors are less available, and workshops on conflict resolution and social‑media impacts on youth.

The committee reported outreach to Samaritan: staff contacted Marty Cahill of Samaritan and were told he expressed interest in visiting Sweet Home to discuss Samaritan’s direction; a date is pending. Committee members said they will continue to compile local contacts and resources and that one member offered to assemble resources from prior task‑force work for the committee to review.

Separately, staff said they will continue recruitment and promotion for the health fair and will bring planning items and potential guest‑speaker lists to the next meeting for a deeper agenda item.
