The commission awarded the 2025 citywide mastic crack-repair contract to Stripe and Seal LLC for $89,875. City staff said Kaw Valley prepared the specifications and measured linear footage to estimate materials. Staff called references in other Kansas cities and reported positive feedback about the low bidder. Commissioners asked about on-site inspection and erosion controls; staff said Kaw Valley will perform inspections.
The commission also approved a bid from Ready Systems to upgrade the municipal meeting room audiovisual system for $58,633.25. Staff said Ready Systems submitted the lowest of three bids and that the new system would include updated cameras and improved Teams/streaming functionality; the existing microphones will be reprogrammed rather than replaced. Staff noted the Manhattan installation by Ready Systems as a comparable reference.
Both awards were approved after staff described procurement steps and referenced engineer and contractor checks. The crack-repair work is part of the broader road-maintenance program approved earlier in the year.
