The Richland 1 Board of School Commissioners on June 24 approved a contract with Dell Technologies for grades 3–12 laptop replacements in an estimated amount of $2,150,273.79.
Ms. Hodges presented the item and said the price includes imaging, warehousing, asset tagging, a five‑year warranty, four years of complete care, device tracking software and protective clamshell cases. "The administration request approval by the Board of School Commissioners enter into a contract with Dell Technologies to provide laptop replacements in the estimated amount of $2,150,273.79," she said.
The procurement is in accordance with the South Carolina state term contract. Commissioners moved and seconded the item and approved it unanimously.
Staff described the purchase as part of annual device replacement cycles and said the work will include inventory tagging and warranty coverage. The administration recommended proceeding under the state contract terms presented to the board.
