The Richland 1 Board of School Commissioners on June 24 authorized a contract with A3 Communications to purchase and install video surveillance equipment at two district locations for $464,762.96.
Ms. Hodges, presenting for the Office of Finance, said the price is in accordance with the South Carolina state term contract and covers cameras, storage, network switches, fiber patch cables and installation as a turnkey solution. "The administration request approval by the Board of School Commissioners to enter into a contract with A3 Communications Columbia, South Carolina to purchase new video surveillance equipment and installation at the 2 locations listed below in the total amount of $464,762.96," she said.
The board approved the contract unanimously after brief questions confirming the item was included in the district's capital projects list. Commissioners confirmed the procurement follows the state term contract guidelines and that the administration recommended approval.
The contract covers hardware, installation and five‑year warranty and service terms as described in the administration recommendation. Staff indicated the procurement is part of ongoing district security and facility modernization work and will proceed under the vendor and contract terms approved by the board.
