The Olive Branch Board of Aldermen on July 15 approved a recommendation to the Mississippi Department of Transportation seeking design variances for the Pleasant Hill project, including reductions in crossover spacing, outside shoulder width, lane width and raised median width. City engineering staff said several of the adjustments reflected public input from prior meetings. Staff told the board the request must be sent to MDOT for concurrence, and that a more formal public hearing on the final plans is expected in September. Action: The board approved the city’s concurrence with the design-variance requests by motion; staff will forward the request to MDOT and continue public outreach before the formal hearing. Board members requested additional public involvement and staff said they are targeting a September public hearing date, pending MDOT scheduling.
