The Olive Branch Board of Aldermen on July 15 approved change order No. 2 to extend the contract time for the South Area 1 water and sewer project by 60 days, moving the new completion date to Sept. 23, 2025. City staff described utility relocations and weather as the primary reasons for the delay and said the extension will help the contractor finish the section; additional sections of work remain in other areas of town. The board approved the extension by motion from Alderman Wallace with a second from Alderman Aldridge. Staff said multiple project sections remain across the south and east areas of the city, and that the extension will bring the project closer to the halfway point of overall program stages. City staff noted some forthcoming sections were expected to progress faster because they involve fewer homes and fewer complications. The extension was granted as a time-only change; no funding increase was announced in the meeting.
