The Planning Commission on June 10 recommended approval of a final plat to create a 0.952-acre commercial lot at 9369 Old Goodman Road for Miranda Bridal. The property is zoned C-3 (general commercial); the owners intend to remodel the existing converted house and add landscaping, a greenhouse and a flower garden to accompany the bridal boutique.
Staff said the plat meets zoning and subdivision regulations except for front and rear setbacks of the existing building, and that all necessary utilities (gas, water, electric) are available in the vicinity. Fire personnel reviewed the site and the fire inspector confirmed that access for emergency vehicles would be provided. Staff recommended a waiver of the 5-foot sidewalk along the Old Goodman Road frontage because sidewalks are not present along the south side of the road nearby; that waiver was included in staff conditions.
Property owner Mark Straufis said the intent is to remodel the landscaping and add a greenhouse as a complement to the bridal shop. Commissioners moved, seconded and approved the recommendation to forward the plat to the Board of Mayor and Aldermen.
If the board approves the plat, the owners must record the plat and comply with any conditions before remodeling or construction permits are issued.
